Independent Reviews of Irish Family Research.co.uk

We have been very fortunate to receive a number of independent reviews of this Site in recent times. We are also extremely honoured to be included in the British Library's list of Family History Resources for Ireland. Here are a couple of reviews:

Your Family Tree Magazine
Issue 9, March 2004

"This is a huge site that contains around [100] searchable databases aimed at providing Irish ancestry researchers with a valuable online resource.

The key to this site is that many of the databases are exclusive as they contain information transcribed from original sources obtained by the Site's developers. These include many 19th Century residential/trade directories, school registers, teachers lists, newspaper transcriptions and many other unusual sources. The databases are divided by region too, making it easy for visitors to hone their research to relevant areas.

The site also contains old photos and postcards, research books and details of libraries and research organisations. Some of the databases are free but most require membership...Its a good site with tremendous potential and judging by its research interests page and number of visitors, it is already proving a hit with many family historians."

"Irish Family Research has been online for a year and has an impressive array of databases to search for anyone wishing to trace their Irish origins. The materials available on the site are said to be rare and exclusive. Some are free to air, but for others there is a modest subscription.

Irish Family Research offer [100] searchable databases, all listed by County. You can view what is offer from the link on the home page. Some of these databases date back to the seventeenth century and many of them offer a wealth of material. There are also very helpful hints on how to trace your genealogy and on specialist books.

Overall Score:4/5. Look here for a wealth of records on Ireland.
